Overview
The St. Michaels Community Center (SMCC) seeks an Executive Director who will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for execution of its mission, including fundraising, program development, financial management, community relations, and staff supervision.

Successful candidates will understand and believe in our mission and vision and will have the ability to speak effectively about them. They will have a commitment to ensuring that SMCC meets the needs of the community for educational programs, food programs, and social programs in a safe and nurturing environment.
Qualifications/Responsibilities
- Have 3- 5 years of increasingly responsible experience in administration, operations, and programming.
- Demonstrate fundraising success. Oversee grant research, writing and administration. Recruit, retain and cultivate donors.
- Engage with the community, including working with diverse clients, board members, donors, volunteers, partners, other non-profit organizations, and community leaders.
- Articulate a vision and motivate people to work as a team. Be a self-directed, energetic, creative, innovative, and collaborative leader.
- Possess strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to serve as the face of the organization.
- Use office technology effectively, including donor software. Function in a self-sufficient office culture.
- Work closely with the Board to prepare annual budgets and oversee SMCC’s compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Be familiar with Talbot County, MD, the Eastern Shore, and its organizations (a plus, but not required).
- $70,000 – $85,000, depending on background and experience.
- SMCC provides paid vacation but currently does not offer health benefits.
- Must pass a background check, including criminal history and drug screen.
- Must not be on the National Sex Offender Registry.
Founded in 1990, SMCC is a social and community services non-profit in the heart of a small town on the Eastern Shore of Maryland’s Chesapeake Bay. Located in a recently redesigned and rebuilt building, after a successful $4.5 million capital campaign, the renovated facility offers countless opportunities for new and innovative programming for all ages.
The St. Michaels Community Center is the designated regional food pantry, providing 2,700 meals a week, including hot meals prepared on-site. The need for food and meals has progressively grown year on year.
