READ:  March 25, 2020 Update from Executive Director Trish Payne.

Talbot County Public Schools updates during COVID-19 closures.

After-school programs and summer programs remain the SMCC's top priority, and every year we hold more classes and activities, and more children participate. Many of our programs take place at SMCC  in our classroom, but we also love to go off site when we can to places like the YMCA, Phillips Wharf Environmental Center, the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, the Talbot Free Library, the Bay Hundred Pool and the Environmental Center on Boundary Lane.

2020 Spring After School Programs Postponed:
Programs are postponed until further notice. Weekly programs begin March 24 and continue through May 21, and include Chess, Helping Hands, Anything Goes, Science & Slime, Arts & Crafts, Building Legos, and more.  DOWNLOAD: 2020 Spring After-School Brochure, Registration Form Here.

While most of our classes carry a nominal tuition fee, scholarships are unlimited so every child that wants to participate can. Contact us for more information or read our newsletter for details.

A.S.K. (After School Kids) & Summer Programs

Basketball, tennis, crabbing, baking, cooking, dance, hula—you name it! The SMCC devotes the majority of our resources to ensuring a fun and varied mix of ways for children to stay busy, be healthy and learn during those important after-school and summer hours. Our summer camps serve more than 60 area children per week alone, and the popular Summer Teen Splash parties continue to be well attended.

S.M.Y.L.E. & Jr. Police Cadets

As of March 2013, SMCC has teamed up with Chief Tony Smith of the St. Michaels Police Department and the St. Michaels Youth and Law Enforcement (S.M.Y.L.E.) program to provide community service and drug/alcohol abuse prevention programs to the youth in our community. Kids who participate in S.M.Y.L.E. can earn a chance to join us on one of our weekend camping trip to the Wilderness Presidential Resort. These weekends serve to strengthen family bonds and provide recreation and adventure to people with limited resources for vacations or getaways.

The Green Team & Jr. Gardeners

Thursdays after school at SMCC is all about farming and gardening! Any child who is interested in learning about starting a garden, planting seeds, tending to garden beds, harvesting the bounty and making meals with what we've grown is welcome to join us anytime for free. St. Michaels's Spirit Grower and Know Good farm are important partners of ours in this arena.
